This anniversary shoot is a lovely look at the everyday shenanigans of a crazy cute couple, and their little pups too. But the best part? Danielle Poff Photography also snapped their cozy California home. See the full tour on SMP Living!

Bohemian Chic Chicago Wedding

When you get right down to it, this is the kind of wildly beautiful yet deeply personal wedding we preach here on SMP. From the gorgeous blush and gold stylings by Kelly Lenard to the Bride’s late mother’s photograph sewn into her BHLDN dress, it’s everything an “I do” should be and we’re got a front row seat. Lauren Balingit captured the moments, and you can get started in the gallery right here.

From The Bride…On June 7th 2014 I married my Prince Charming, Mike, in the suburbs of Chicago, and my fairytale wedding came true. It was a sunny day, filled with our best friends and family celebrating the commitment we made to each other. I was lucky enough to hire Lauren Balingit, a film photographer, to capture all of the day’s beautiful moments, and her fiancé, Alex Balingit formerly of 27 Entertainment.

The décor was a combination of gold, blush and pale blue, along with pieces of my favorite childhood memories. The nostalgic smells of lavender from family trips to France, several Disney elements, blue birds, and my favorite flower, lily of the valley. I remember picking the lilies in my Grandmother’s garden in Indiana with my Mom. Both my Mom and Grandma, sadly, could not be present on our special day. My Mom was close to my heart though as my Aunt Cyndy sewed a picture of her in my dress. Also, for our recessional we asked our friends and family to sprinkle us with the blue bird confetti (that my aunts and cousins individually hand-punched!) to honor my Mom’s beautiful spirit. Blue birds also adorned our wedding cake, tying a bow of ribbon with their beaks, similarly to how Cinderella’s dress was sewn together.

I felt like a true princess wearing the wedding gown I chose from BHLDN Chicago, designed by the incredible Catherine Deane. My lovely veil was vintage-inspired as well from the bridal boutique Meringue, also in Chicago. I wore the timeless Sakura halo created by Cécile Boccara from France, which further incorporated the delicate pearls that embellished my dress. I carried a vintage Whiting & Davis gold mesh bag, and my earrings were by Nadri that my Mike had given me for our one-year anniversary. The morning of our wedding day, he surprised me with a gold monogram necklace incorporating my new initials, LOM. It was an honor to wear it as part of my wedding ensemble.

The incredibly talented wedding stylist, Kelly Lenard from Intertwine, is whom I give all the credit for our wedding décor. She communicated with me for months to bring all of my scattered ideas to tasteful fruition and beauty. I asked Kelly to incorporate as much gold into the day as possible. She misted metallic gold paint onto baby’s breath, eucalyptus leaves and seeds, to enhance our whimsical theme. She even surprised me the day of the wedding with the most stunning bright pink peonies that complimented my bridesmaid’s dresses perfectly! Also, as a tribute to the amazing Irish family I was marrying into, Bells of Ireland adorned the pews of the church aisle. My husband Mike and I used the cork collection filled with the memories we had shared and written on, to use for place card holders at our reception.

Two days after our wedding I was beyond excited to get dressed up again, but this time having the magnificent city of Chicago for a backdrop. Kelly Lenard created a stunning secondary bouquet for me, incorporating more vibrant colors and large garden roses, and a gorgeous floral crown. Lauren Balingit photographed us as we frolicked around our favorite city and strolled along the crystal blue water. After the shoot, Mike and I visited our favorite Irish Pub in the city, The Celtic Crossing for a pint of the black stuff. It was the perfect way to end our wedding weekend!

Modern White Loft Wedding at Studio 450

There’s something about a white wedding. It’s as classic as they come (think tuxes, lace, and chandeliers). But this white wedding is taking on a fresh modern style with Studio 450 as the backdrop, the New York skyline in full view and details by Roey Mizrahi Events and Blade Floral And Event Design that add a dash of sparkle to this loft affair. Get cozy with Lindsay Madden’s beautiful imagery right here.

From The Bride…I’m known to be difficult to surprise, but I was completely shocked when, on a freezing January Thursday afternoon, Danny (who was supposed to be on vacation in Miami) popped up in Hudson River Park and proposed (a friend lured me to the park by suggesting we grab coffee near my office)!

Though the proposal was a shock, I must admit that I definitely had a vision for our wedding. Since I was little, I’ve been obsessed with NYC, and years ago, I saw a story about a New York loft wedding in NYC that stuck with me. Years later, I moved to NYC and met and fell in love with a born-and-bred Queens boy, so it made perfect sense to get married in the city we love, and bring the picture in the story I read to life!

Right after we got engaged I googled ‘nyc loft wedding,’ and Studio 450 popped right up. As soon we walked in, I knew it was the place where we would get married. Not only does it have incredibly breathtaking views of the city, but it was the perfect place for the ‘modern,’ ‘classic,’ ‘airy’ feel I wanted for our wedding. I wanted to play up the clean, open feeling of Studio 450, and I love muted colors, so choosing our color scheme of gray, white and silver was an easy one. I know that ‘classic’ and ‘modern’ are sort of opposites, but our fantastic vendors immediately understood and perfectly carried out our vision! While I thought I had really modern taste, Anne from Blade Floral quickly coined me a ‘modern romantic’ – and she was completely right! She created a stunning, romantic chiffon chuppah and lush centerpieces, that were offset by more modern vases and silver accents.

Danny and I knew we wanted a wedding that was beautiful, fun, and most importantly, centered around our family and friends. We both come from strong Jewish families, but mine is secular, and Danny’s is Modern Orthodox. It was essential for us to incorporate both of our traditions into our ceremony and reception. It wasn’t always simple, but we were able to create the perfect blend. Our friends recommended us to our phenomenal rabbi who worked with us to create the perfect ceremony – a traditional Modern Orthodox ceremony with modern twists like having special women in our lives read blessings they created, and both of us exchanging rings. Two of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony to me was us honoring our grandmothers (who could not be at the wedding) – I was married in the same ring as my mother and grandmother, and Danny walked down the aisle to ‘Danny boy’ which his grandma always sang to him.

The biggest compliment we received from our wedding was that it felt very ‘us.’ That was so meaningful to us because we really wanted the wedding to feel personal to our family and friends. We wanted our reception to feel like one big party, and it definitely did! Our family and friends danced all night, and Bud Maltin Metropolitan Music played the perfect blend of dance music my friends love, my dad’s favorite Stevie Wonder songs, and pleased Danny’s friends with tons of Beatles hits. Pride Caterers suggested a bourbon bar, because we love bourbon, and we had tons of handmade signage because my mom owns a little stationary company, and paper details are a big deal to us!

We wouldn’t have been able to create our vision without the help of our amazing vendors. I was recommended to Roey Mizrahi of Roey Mizrahi Events by the sister-in-law of one of my best friends, and knew she was the right person to plan our wedding right away. She never missed a detail, listened to my endless questions and comments, came up with great ideas, and executed our day perfectly. We are so grateful for her, and I know our wedding would not have gone as smoothly without her! All of our vendors are not only talented, but truly cared about our wedding. From our incredible photographer Lindsay Madden sending me pictures of the perfect spots she found in Central Park for our first look, to Thea of Hushed Commotion working so hard to ensure I had the perfect veil, and Angi of Angelique Ink making edit after edit to our invitations, everyone truly made me feel like my wedding was incredibly special to them. We are so appreciative of their talent and hard work to create our wedding day!
